Retro-sensual home fragrance with a hit of honeysuckle
It was a coming-of-age moment. I’d arrived at college for the first time and went knocking on doors in search of new friends. I discovered Madrid-born Veronica who lived two doors down the corridor from me in the halls of residence.
I was dressed in jeans and a white tee shirt while Veronica towered over me, six-feet tall in stockinged feet, wearing tailored pants and a sumptuous shoulder-padded blazer. We were the same age but our styles – and scents – were a million miles apart. She forgave me nonetheless and invited me over the threshold for a shot of jasmine-infused gin.
While I was liberally schooshing bubblegum-scented Impulse body spray all over me, Veronica was delicately dabbing classic Chloe behind her ears and on pulse points on her wrists.
Launched in 1975, Chloe was not a scent for the faint hearted. Karl Lagerfeld hit the top notes in style with syrupy sweet Peach and Coconut, rich Honeysuckle and an abundance of Orange Blossom. The scent is synonymous with grown-up sophistication and I realised I had catch up fast.

Years on, I still love those classic top notes; they remain synonymous with grand sophistication and formidable style. I lost touch with Veronica a long time ago but whenever I catch a scent of the retro-sensual Chloe, she is right by my side again.
We’re head over heels for:
The richness of the essential oils brings a sense of luxeness to this bright blue candle. It’s a sweet treat of honeysuckle wrapped up in an engraved glass.
The signature candle from Jo Malone is a hard habit to break. It’s all about the burst of Basil, Thyme, Mandarin, and zesty fresh Limes – strike a match and tired interiors will never look back.
